My new years resolution this year is to try and save as much money as I can by using coupons. I have never really been a coupon person. It always seemed like a hassle. I decided that I need to conquer the coupons and do my best at saving money any way I can. Every little bit helps, I think.
Caleb & I kind of started trying to save money towards the end of this past year. We decided that we need to each have an allowance. Every 2 weeks, we get our allowance. This money is for eating out, impulse buys, etc...things that we can do without. If we spend our whole allowance before the 2 weeks is up, we have to talk to the other person about what we are thinking of buying to see if it is really necessary. This worked out really well for us, until the holidays came. So, we are going to start being more strict with our allowance rule again.
Good luck to everyone and their new years resolutions.

You will have to give us updates on the coupons thing. I really need to save money, and try to be frugal in a lot of ways, but I have never done receipts, I agree that they have seemed like way too much of a hassel. So let me know if you find some trick to make it seem easier.
Also about the allowances, Ben and I started doing that 4.5 years ago, and it was one of the best things we did for us. Though we do it at a month at a time, but I think the 2 weeks at a time is a better idea, because Ben is a spender and always runs out of money about 10 days into the month.
If you need help with the coupons, let me know. I can always find a good deal. Also, look on the link I have called coupons. It is Kurt Hepworth's wife and she is way better than me. She posts where the sales are and such.
I am also trying to get better at using coupons. I guess the first thing I need to do is get a newspaper, that would be a good start...
I have found a couple resources for using coupons. I haven't been the grocery store since this post, so I am not sure how they all work.
This girl has a blog about her saving money through coupons and such. Some things she actually gets for free.

Also, I found this post on that blog about doing e-coupons. I signed up for them, and I am going to try them out next time I go to the store.
