Happy St. Patrick's Day

I made corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick's Day today. I used this recipe from a Blog I like to read...Lynn's Kitchen adventures. It was delicious. The meat was very tender and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. Our kitchen does smell a bit like cabbage though...wonder how long it takes for that smell to go away??

Making Monday: Wheat Bread

This is the best Wheat Bread recipe I have every tried. I got it at a church event. The recipe makes 4 - 5 loaves, so cut the recipe in half if that's too much. Or freeze the extra loaves for later.

Wheat Bread
(350 degrees for 45 minutes)

5 cups warm water
1 T salt
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup molasses
13 cups flour
2/3 cup oil
2 T yeast
1/2 cup warm water

Put 2 T yeast into 1/2 cup of warm water, let stand for 10 minutes. Put in a large mixing bowl 5 cups warm water, honey, molasses, oil, salt and 7 cups of flour. Mix well.

Add yeast water and 3 cups of flour, mix, add the last 3 cups flour, knead for 10 minutes. Shape loaves and place in 4-5 greased pans. Let raise 1/3 the height of the pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Making Monday: Pumpkin Spice Muffins with Cream Cheese Frosting

Yesterday I made these delicious muffins from the Pioneer Woman's blog. I just love pumpkin flavored foods in the fall. These muffins were especially delicious. You can get the recipe and instructions on how to make them here.
