Oh...and we are going to be parents. We couldn't be more excited. I am 13 weeks along and starting to feel so much better now that I am entering the 2nd trimester. I am so glad to be feeling better and so excited for our new addition. I am having fun looking at baby stuff. There is so much out there? Any mom's out there have carseat or stroller recommendations? I don't even know where to start?
Here is just some journaling that I want to keep track of. How we told our parents. You are welcome to read...it's kind of funny.
Caleb and I wanted do something special when telling our parents about the news. So we decided we could overnight the first ultrasound picture to my parents in Idaho and we would hang a copy of the picture on Caleb's mom's fridge. When we got the first ultrasound, we had been waiting so long to tell them that we were so ready for them to know. We knew we would have to wait a little bit since our plans required a little waiting.
So we put the photo in an envelope and overnighted it to Idaho on a Thursday. Caleb took the other photo and hung it to his mom's fridge on his way to work. Caleb's mom is a school teacher, so he expected to get a call from her anytime after 5pm. Well, it got to be about 6pm and we hadn't heard from her. So Caleb gave in and called her up. No answer on her home phone or her cell phone. He kept calling every hour hoping to get a hold of her. We weren't really worried. She doesn't always answer her phone and sometimes has activities after school. It got to be 10pm and Caleb finally got a hold of her. She had been to the circus apparently and didn't see the photo when she got home. So Caleb told her to look on her fridge and she was so excited. It was a fun way to tell her, but we should have planned a little better.
So Friday comes and the overnight package should be arriving at my parents house. At 3pm, the tracking number said that the package arrived at 10am. I thought...well maybe my parents are out for the day working/running errands etc. 5:30 comes around and no phone call. I was so frustrated. Then I realized that my mom was out of town for the weekend. She went on a girls trip with her sisters and aunts and some cousins. I had been so one track minded...I completely forgot. So I called my dad to see if the package arrived or not. He told me that since my mom was out of town, he decided to go to Montana for a couple days. He was just on his way home right then. I told him I was sending them a very important package and I needed someone to get the mail. He started making some small talk and then said..."wait, what did you send us?" I said...I send you a picture of our baby! He was so excited and felt bad they weren't at the house. He said he had just talked to my mom and lost her in the middle of the call so he wasn't sure if she had reception or not. I decided I wanted to just tell her over the phone because she wasn't going to be home until Sunday. So I called her and left a message telling her I need her to call me. (this is Friday night). Saturday morning my mom sent out an e-mail to everyone telling us how they are doing and how much fun they are having. So I wrote her back...hoping she was still online...and told her I need her to call me. This was at about 10am. Then at about noon, I got a text message from her that said "Jen has internet". I thought...what? Who is Jen and why are you telling me she has internet? I need to talk to you!!! Finally she called at about 2pm. The first thing I asked her was Who is Jen? and why are you telling me she has internet?. She said her sister, Deanna, we teaching her how talk into your phone and it will send what you say as a text message. Hers didn't come through clearly. She meant it to say "I have internet". I thought that was funny. She was in the little town near the cabin they were staying in and had reception so she called. I told her the story of the package and everything and told her it was a picture of her new grandchild. She was so excited. And sad she wasn't there to get the package. But she said that was the best place for her to find out such fun news. She had 9 other ladies to be excited with.
I supposed we should have planned better all around. But I still like our idea of telling them.

HAHAHAHA, I love those stories! Your families crack me up! I'm so excited for you and so glad you are feeling better!!!! As for stroller/carseat recommendations, Chico brand is THE BEST! So easy to get in and out of the car. And I think the year we bought it for Gwen it was number 1 for safety, but I can't remember that for sure or not.
Congratulations! I'm so happy for you!
I ma so glad to see this on your blog. We are so excited for the new addition. Funny that you could not get a hold of either side of the family. Modern technology, who knew.

We are so excited. My actual due date is April 29th. So that will make me, Caleb and baby all Taurus's. And Bear I think...not sure of his actual birthday. :)
Congrats Hill! I am so happy for you! Does that mean you will be bringing the little one to our girls trip? :-)
Tara, oh...wouldn't that be fun to take the babe on the trip. We will see. Maybe dad will be able to handle a baby by himself by then. I might want a little break by then....or maybe I will think I can't go without the baby. We will see. So excited for the trip!
So Caleb DID almost spilled the beans at the paper cutting class. HAHAHAHA! I thought so. Congrats! Hope you are felling well.
