My Birthday

It was my birthday on Friday. I turned 31. I can't believe it. I can't believe I am in my 30's....crazy. I don't feel 30. But I don't feel 19 either...maybe 25...that's a good age.

My birthday kind of snuck up on me this year. I have been so consumed with being pregnant and getting ready for this baby to come that I didn't really think a lot about my birthday. It was Caleb's brother Trevor's graduation. So we went to his graduation and then went to Chuck E. Cheese with all the grand kids and family after the graduation. Then Caleb and I headed into SLC. I ran a couple errands, we stopped by the mall for a couple things and then we went to the Melting Pot for dinner. It was so delicious!!!! But they give you way too much food. We were instantly in food comas. We were going to go to movie after dinner, but decided going to bed after our 2 hour fondue dinner sounded better. (hmmm....maybe that's a sign that I am in my 30's. Choosing bed over a movie.)

Caleb got me this painting for my birthday. It's been at the store for a couple weeks and I have wanted it since I first saw it. So I am very excited to say it's mine.

The artist is a local artist, Emily Hart-Wood. She actually went to high school with Caleb.

Don't be too jealous......

that your foot doesn't look like this.

So....not only am I 39 weeks pregnant, but I fell down the stairs on Saturday morning. Ahhh....I was being stupid and carrying the ironing board down the stairs....forgetting that my balance isn't the greatest in my late pregnancy stage. (Not to mention I can't see my feet). I only fell down the last couple stairs, but it scared me pretty good and hurt really bad!!! I sprained my foot. It's all swollen and getting bruised. It's starting to feel a bit better, but I am still limping and wearing a boot to support it. Baby Girl Barney is still doing great. Moving around like normal and everything is okay there. We are so relieved of that.

And....a picture of me at 38 weeks...haven't posted one in a while.

baby's room

this weekend I started to set up the baby's room...there are still some things I want to do in there. So this is kind of a sneak peek. I just love it! I love sitting in my little rocking chair and just admiring the room. Can't wait to meet this little one!

and here is Bear with one of his favorite treats (it looks like a cigar when he holds it in his mouth) and a sweater on because it was cold this weekend. Lots of snow! in April!

Grandpa's birthday

A couple weekends ago, we went up to Helena Montana to celebrate my Grandpa Landon's 90th Birthday.

On Friday night we drove from Layton to Rexburg. On our way there...we passed my sister's car broken down on the side of the road. They had just broken down about 5 minutes before we passed them. Caleb recognized their car and we stopped to help them out. I took Melanie and the boys in my car and we continued on to Rexburg. Caleb and Ben stayed with their car and my dad came and met them to take care of the car and to bring them to Rexburg. I am so glad we noticed them on the side of the road and we were able to help them. Poor Mel was having a rough day and this was the last thing she wanted to deal with.

My mom rented a bus/van and driver for us to travel the rest of the way to Montana. This way we all didn't have to take so many cars and we didn't all have to drive. It was a lot of fun and so nice to just sit back and relax. We got into Helena that afternoon and went to the birthday party for my grandpa. He's not a man of a lot of emotion, but I could tell he really enjoyed the party. He was glad to have everyone there together and visit. After the party, we just went to the hotel and relaxed, swum (is that right?) and had dinner.

On Sunday we got up early and went to church with Grandpa. A cute little man in the crowd got up to bear his testimony and mentioned my Grandpa and what a great man he was. It was fun to hear about grandpa in church. After church we loaded up and headed back to Rexburg.

When we got to Rexburg, we had some dinner and then Caleb and I headed back to Layton.

It was a short trip, but we had a good time and it was fun to be there for my grandpa. It was fun to see cousins and aunts and uncles that we don't get to see very often as well.

Blonde Grizzly award

We got an award from City Weekly for Blonde Grizzly. These are the Best of Utah awards. We are so excited about the award and so grateful people love our gallery and what we are doing with out little business.

Best Alternative Gallery
Blonde Grizzly
Opening in an old photography studio in 2010, Caleb and Hillary Barney started up the clothing shop/art gallery as a forum for alternative and pop-culture artwork that probably wouldn’t see the light of day in normal gallery settings. Since then, they’ve seen massive success from their line of affordable T-shirts, hosted packed crowds for their open-gallery nights and brought new life to their small section of 400 South.

A day in the Life of Bear

I haven't done a post on Bear in a while. We still love him dearly (even though he did rip our BRAND NEW comforter today...a little grumpy about that). I thought you would all like to see what Bear loves to do everyday. He's a delight and I am excited to raise our little girl with a dog. I think Bear will be very protective of her.

He usually gets up in the morning with me to go outside and go potty. Then he goes straight back to bed to cuddle with Caleb until he wakes up a little later.

He loves to sit by the back door and sit in the sunshine in the morning. On this morning he grabbed one of his toys and was laying with it.

He loves to sit out on the deck and see what everyone in the neighborhood is up to. He has been loving the oncoming of spring and sunshine.

Here he is rolling in the grass in the backyard.

He has been finding sticks in the backyard, and he likes to bring them inside.

He takes lots of naps throughout the day too. He naps in his little dog bed or on our bed.

this is just a cute picture

We just love this little puppy!

ah.....36 weeks

I am now 36 weeks pregnant. I can't believe I am so far along. The time has gone by so quickly and we are in the home stretch. I just wanted to jot down some of the things that I have loved and not loved so much about pregnancy.

LOVES:
-feeling the baby...I thought this would be really weird, but it's been kind of fun.
-everyone is so nice to you...strangers just look at you and smile and are so willing to help you
-Not worrying so much about what I eat. I have been pretty good about watching this, but every once in a while I feel like I HAVE to eat a doughnut or whatever I happen to be craving.
-buying stuff for the baby and getting ready for her to come.
-my baby shower was so much fun. fun to see everyone
-my hair....it's so healthy during pregnancy and doesn't fall out.

THINGS I HAVEN'T LOVED
-being so tired. I am so used to getting so much done and going, going, going, but I have had to slow down and it's been driving me crazy.
-starting to get uncomfortable.
-birthing class. I nearly passed out in one of the videos. Sort of embarrassing.
-buying bigger clothes.
-going pee all the time!
-swollen feet....at the end of the day, they are so tired and swollen
-anticipating what labor will be like.

Art & Soup

Last week I met up with Mindy for Art & Soup. We have been the last 3 years together, so I was so glad to continue the tradition. It's such a fun event. The soups are so much fun to sample and see what the local restaurants have as their specialties. Thanks for the fun night Mindy!
