Happy Halloween

Every year for work we have a Halloween party, and everyone dresses up. It's so much fun. I was a Big Mac this year. You can see pictures of everyone from the office at Making Memories.

Here is a big group shot

Canning...I know, I'm a little late in the season for this

This past weekend, Ashley and I drove up to Idaho. My mom and I had a Saturday of canning planned. I don't know how to can, so I decide to have my mom teach me. We decided to can pickled carrots & cauliflower and salsa. We also made raspberry freezer jam. It was such a great time, and not as much work as I had thought. We started at 8 am and were finished by noon. It was a lot of fun.

getting the jars ready for pickled carrots & cauliflower (I know it sounds weird, but it's my favorite)

my mom thought I should have a picture of me canning....I'm still in my pajamas and I have morning hair. (not that my morning hair is much different from my afternoon or evening hair, but there are subtle differences.)

salsa

Here are our cans of carrots/cauliflower & our jam. The salsa is on the stove in the water baths still processing.

After we finished canning, we went for a bike ride with my dad. Then went into town to see what they have been working on for the last little bit. My parents are adding more units to their storage business, and they have been working on updating the front of the old laundromat. It's looking good.

We also did a little shopping, then came home. Ashley and I carved pumpkins.

Ash carved the skull & mine is the spooky house.

Jaxon, Raquel, Kinsley, Holden & Keagan came over for dinner later. It was so great to see them. We don't get to see them very often. I can't believe how much their boys are growing.

Mom & Dad, thanks for such a great weekend. It's always nice to come home.

Girls Weekend, and one little boy.

This weekend my mom came down to Salt Lake and my sisters and I met her there. We all live fairly close. Ashley is in Provo going to school, I live in Layton and Melanie lives in Logan. We all got together for a "Girls weekend, and one little boy". Oliver got to come to. He added the last part. We had such a great time. Thanks for having us mom!!!

On Friday night we all met up and went to Benihana for dinner. This is always Ashley's top pick. Oliver kept saying our chef, Jeremy, was so amazing. He was very impressed by his tricks. What a fun place to eat.

We went back to the "show & tell"(That's how Oliver says hotel) after dinner and went swimming. We stayed at the Courtyard Marriot downtown. Nice hotel...and they have free cookies, but the pool was pretty cold. The hot tub was nice.

On Saturday we went for a walk in the morning and stopped by the Farmer's Market. We picked up some fruit and pastries for breakfast and took it back to the hotel to eat. Then we loaded up and headed to Park City for some outlet shopping. It was such a beautiful day. We got a lot of shopping done. But I was unable to get the one thing I always buy when I am in Park City....shoes for Caleb at the Reebok store. The closed the Reebok outlet. These are the only shoes he will wear. I don't know what I am going to do for Caleb's shoes now. We had a stock pile of his shoe in closet, but he's on his last pair now. I have a couple months to figure it out. The pair he has now is fairly new. After Park City, we went to dinner at Ruby Tuesday and then went back to the room to relax for a little bit.

We decided later to go to the Planetarium and see a show there. We saw "Fly me to the Moon". It is a cute cartoon in 3D. So we got to wear glasses in the theatre. It was a lot of fun, and Oliver loved it. Then we explored the Planetarium exhibits a little bit. They had a really big marble track that was a lot of fun to watch.

Melanie & Oliver playing at the marble track.

Oliver on Mars.

Oliver & I on the weather TV.

This morning we went to Gardner Village to see all of the witches.

This witch is my favorite.

We ate breakfast at the Original Pancake house in Sugarhouse. Then, we all parted ways. We had a lot of fun. Thanks again for everything mom!!

Scrapbooking at Margie's

On friday afternoon, we got to scrapbook for work. We went over to Margie's house to make our "week in the life" scrapbooks. It was a nice change to our regular office day to day work. Thanks Margie for hosting us! She fed us a great lunch and we had a great time visiting and scrapbooking.

October FMOM

It has been a while since we have had an official FMOM activity. We all met up in SLC and ate at David's Kitchen...great Chinese restaurant. The pot stickers are excellent. If you go, you may want to get a couple orders.

Then, in honor of Halloween, we went to the Castle of Chaos on 33rd South in SLC. It was cold out and we got there early, so the line wasn't very long. There are 3 options you can take when you go to the Castle of Chaos.

1. 3D X-scream (this is the option we went with)
2. 3D X-scream with blood bath ($3.00 extra. You have to sign a waiver for this one. The actors are allowed to touch you and they throw blood on you...but you get a free poncho)
3. Vampire Murder Mystery (the dude in line told us this was lame, so we opted out)

We had a great time. I screamed a lot. Maria was the brave one. She led the way and just laughed at me everytime I screamed. Bev held on tight to me & Mindy.

Here is us outside, waiting in line.

There is a 3D part in the castle. Here we are in our 3D glasses.

It was cold outside...37 degrees. It's definitely getting to be winter time.

Look at this snow!!

The weatherman said it was going to snow this weekend. Yesterday it snowed a little bit on and off throughout the day. I thought this was all we were going to get.

Probably I shouldn't take pictures while driving, but it was snowing on my way home from SLC last night too.

Then, I woke up to this winter wonderland this morning. There are still green leaves on the trees. We have officially skipped fall.

A Week in the Life

I'm a little behind with this post, but some co-workers and I have decided to do a little project. This comes from Ali Edwards. What an amazing scrapbooker and life artist! She is walking anyone through her "A Week in the Life" project. You are basically documenting your whole week and making a book out of it. So, I have been busy documenting....taking pictures, writing lists and gathering.

These are some of my favorite photos of my week so far. I like these because they are imperfect and random. Most are things I would never think to take pictures of.
