Sundance

On Friday night Caleb and I really wanted to see "Exit Through the Gift Shop" downtown as part of the Sundance film festival. It's about Banksy...a really great artist from the UK. We didn't have tickets to see it, but decided to try our luck at the wait list. (We have seen movies on the waitlist in previous years and have never had a problem) We showed up at the venue a little over an hour before they started to hand out wait list numbers. We ended up with number 20 & 21. Pretty good numbers for wait list....we thought we had a sure shot in. When it came time to start letting wait list in, the theater was getting full and ticket holders kept showing up....limiting the amount of wait list numbers getting in. We got to the front of the line....18 wait list numbers had gotten in. Then they had 2 more spots. So one of us would be able to go. Caleb had is money out and was ready to go in. Then one last ticket holder showed up and they didn't let Caleb in. We stood there for about 5 minutes...hoping a couple spots would open up. They didn't, we didn't get in! We were soooooo close. If there were only 2 more seats in the theater, we could have seen the show. We were pretty disappointed. We really wanted to see the show. I hope it gets picked up by a production company. We will keep our eyes open to see if it makes it to the theaters or to DVD.

Banksy even did some artwork in park city while he was in town. This is just off Main Street in Park City.

Saturday, we decided to try another movie. This one was playing in Park City. We had much better luck with the wait list. We were numbers 2 & 3, and some nice person in line gave us a voucher for our tickets. So it was FREE. Totally great day! We saw "Nowhere Boy". It's about John Lennon's childhood and how the Beatles started. I highly recommend it to everyone. It was a really great film.

waiting in Starbucks to get in line to see if we will get in.

The yarrow hotel is where was saw the movie.

in the theater.

Gilgal Gardens

Our friend Darren was in town with his new girlfriend, Nikki. She had never been to Utah before, so we met up with our friend Doug and went to Gilgal Gardens. Always a favorite stop.

white cabinets

Caleb has been busy. He has been painting our cabinets. They turned out really great. It was a big project, but we're so glad to have it done.

Here is the kitchen when we moved in. We got new appliances shortly after we moved in and painted. This is just what the cabinets have looked like for the last 2 years.

during...all the cabinet doors and drawers off and a coat of primer on them.

after...now we need new countertops. That's next on the list.

Mindy & Ryan

Last week we had Ryan and Mindy over for dinner. We ate, visited and played cards. We taught them how to play runs & bunches (a family favorite). We had such a great time with them. We're so grateful for great friends. Thanks for making the drive guys.

Brooke & James

Caleb's sister needed us to watch 2 of her kids last Wednesday. We had a great time with them.

We have a blow-up couch that we set up downstairs. Brooke loved making a cave out of it. It made her hair stand on end.

Bear begging for treats

I didn't get any pictures of James. He's a mover and I couldn't get him to stand still in order to get a picture.

Making Monday: Homemade Christmas

I made a couple gifts this year for Christmas. I couldn't show pictures until after they had been given though. Here they are.

homemade marshmallows for neighbors

stuffed giraffe for Caleb (he loves giraffes)

a couple handmade books

a map with map pins...I made one of these for me and one for my mom.

cheeseball. This one wasn't a gift, but what's Christmas without a cheeseball?

Christmas in Idaho & Humanitarian update

We had such a great time in Idaho. We went there after Christmas for a couple days. We relaxed a lot, ate, played games, ate, visited with family and ate some more.

We also put together our humanitarian kits. We got enough stuff for 30 kits. We dropped them off at the humanitarian office in the new DI in Rexburg. It was the neatest little room. Like Santa's workshop. There were toys that people had been making and there were several people in there tying quilts when we went in there.
